Today has been a long time coming. Granted, a lot of that time was my own darn fault. Nonetheless, it’s an exciting day: the wheat test.

It was a good day, as far as food is concerned! (Not so much, where work is concerned.)

It was a good day, as far as food is concerned! (Not so much, where work is concerned.)
I felt a little bit icky when I got up this morning, which I have to assume is a result of the sugar I ate over the weekend. I’d really like to do a new challenge test for sugar in a few weeks, just to be certain. But the sour stomach today seems to be a good indication that I really do have some kind of intolerance. But the good news is that it seems to take about three days before it causes any symptoms, and one week seems to be long enough to settle the reaction down. (The bad news is that it also stirs up all kinds of sugar cravings, so that’s not happy.)
Despite the sour stomach, today I tested yeast. I meant to do it last week, but I was either too busy or too tired to go out and find some good gluten-free bread so that I could test it.

After a long, hard week at work, I took the day off today. Hung around the house, played a computer game for a while, watched a HIMYM marathon … Ahh, the good life. I also bought some new shoes (I’d been looking for black flats for a couple of months) some earrings (just cuz I felt like it), so all in all it was a good day.
I’m starting a new experiment. See, last week I had some Thai food from a place in the little town where I work. Then, I tried to get some Thai at a couple of restaurants in the (slightly larger) town where I live—but they both said that they use in sugar in everything, everything, that they serve. Since I had asked someone at the other place in my work town about the sugar, and she assured me that there was none in the items I ordered, I figured I’d go back there again.
But this time when I asked, it was a little slow, and the actual cook was sitting nearby, and he informed me that they also use sugar in just about everything. “Hmm, curious,” I thought, “considering that last week I ate this food and had no problem with it.” And in the heat of moment (read: since I wanted Thai food, reeeeal bad), I went ahead and got some curries anyway. And now I’m purposefully eating sugar, for at least 3 days in a row, to see if I can provoke a reaction. Because if I can’t, then it would seem there may have been something else going on that day when I did the refined sugar challenge test.
